National Chocolate-Covered Insect Day!

Although this day will be celebrated only on October 14 (as every year), but I mention it today, to give everyone a chance to deal with the taste restrictions in our heads ...

I tried to "change" it at myself, but ... my psychological barrier probably requires more time to overcome, if it can be broken at all ...

I love cucumbers on the brine and tripe that the Mexican, Australian, New Zealanders and people of Thailand and African countries will not eat.

Because for them, edible insects are almost every day, as for about 2 billion people around the world. And so it's not a fad (!) as some think ...

From 1 of January 2018, products made with the use of insects can be legally bought and sold in Poland. In the United States and not only, "insects" and "insectivores" from a lot of years, they appreciate the lack of carbohydrates, a large amount of protein and minerals (calcium, iron, zinc). For variety, they eat whole baked, dried, 

grilled in marinade, in bars, nutrients, breakfast muesli, and flour from crickets they use to bake bread. And desserts, and how ... Insects in chocolate! Is it popular? I think so ... The producers of these sweets are scarce, but they have been on the market for years! Utah, Texas, Louisiana, California are just a few of the states where there are special farms, but also restaurants serving unusual dishes and desserts. Cookies in white chocolate with ants ... Apparently very tasty (cookies size "Oreo" - 24 cookies / $65) Crunchy crickets in chocolate or insect mixture - plump, crunchy white larvae and crickets in milk! Super yummy! I recommend to interested, adventurers and order new sensations ... I would add that the strawberry cocktail is very tasty with silkworms, and chocolate - with the addition of dried scorpions ... A'propos scorpions ...

Chocolate Scorpions

INGREDIENTS:

12 dead scorpions

100 - 150 grams of good-quality semi-sweet chocolate 

15 grams of whipping cream

a pot with boiling water

a bowl to dissolve the chocolate

PREPARATION:

  • In the top of a double boiler, combine chocolate and cream. Heat, stirring, until chocolate is melted and smooth. Remove from heat...

  • dip the scorpions in the melted chocolate and put on the baking paper to cool down at room temperature
